NULCA Certification Exam Prep · Practice program

The practice-program hub for the NULCA Certification Exam Prep track. Four practice assessments instrument the demarcation framing the prep opens with, the equipment stack the on-site pass plans against, the field-theory layer the identification ladder sits on, and the per-conductor frequency-selection decisions the closeout frequency log preserves. All four practice assessments are live now.

Module-by-module practice assessments

Each module on the NULCA prep track ships with its own instrumented practice assessment. Use the deeper timed mock for a five-domain checkpoint, then choose the module whose vocabulary you want to drill.

Full-length checkpoint

Take the 60-minute mock exam

Fifty balanced questions across the five NULCA prep domains, with deferred feedback, topic scoring, missed-question review, and a clear handoff into certification enrollment.

Module 01
Module 01 · 811 and Private-Side Scope
The demarcation framing the prep opens with: per-utility-owner coverage framing, the band-not-line reading of the meter / service-stub demarcation, the 60–65% of unmarked private-side infrastructure, the five 811-response read-states, and the ASCE 38 per-utility closeout log.

Module 02
Module 02 · Reader-State Classification
The advanced 811 read-states and damage-prevention layer the prep ladder expands into: reading the open and deferred ticket states, the capped-at-the-box ASCE 38 QL-D assignment, the agreed-vs-disagreed field workflow, the tolerance-zone pre-excavation verification, white-lining at the project-cycle step, the strike-notification protocol, and disagreed-zone potholing.

Module 03
Module 03 · Locating Theory and Field Procedures
The field-theory exam frame: translating the F03 equipment vocabulary into the field-theory layer a private locator runs on residential and small-commercial scopes when the pre-sweep and the equipment stack do not agree — what each tool actually measures on a real conductor, the identification ladder that combines the three reads, and the depth-disagreement cross-check.

Module 04
Module 04 · Signal Application and Frequency Selection
The per-conductor frequency-selection exam frame: what each frequency choice does to the active induction read on a real conductor, when to switch frequency between the pre-field hypothesis and the on-site pass, how to detect and reject signal bleed on a parallel utility, how depth-triangulation at low vs high frequency on the same locus signals parallel-utility bias, and how the re-radiated cable signature differs from a directly-applied transmitter field.
